Move from Klaviyo to Omnisend without losing a day of sending.

The short answer

How long does a Klaviyo to Omnisend migration take?

A straight migration takes less than 5 days: contacts, consent and properties moved, and your existing flows and templates recreated and tested in Omnisend. A full rebuild from scratch, where flows, segments and templates are redesigned instead of copied, takes up to 2 weeks. Either way, Klaviyo keeps sending until Omnisend is live, so there's no gap.

What carries over

What moves across, and what gets rebuilt

Data moves. Logic and design get rebuilt natively, because pasting old HTML into Omnisend breaks tracking, dynamic content and testing.

Item

What happens

How

Contacts and consent

Moved

Exported with email and SMS subscription status, imported with the right consent source.

List verification and clean-up

Optional, recommended

Contacts verified and cleaned before import, so you only move, pay for and send to the valid, engaged part of your list.

Custom properties and tags

Moved and mapped

Mapped to Omnisend contact properties so segments still work.

Order history

Synced

Pulled in through the Shopify or WooCommerce integration, so purchase-based segments are ready on day one.

Flows

Recreated or rebuilt

Recreated as they are for a quick move, or redesigned in a full rebuild where the audit shows gaps.

Email templates

Rebuilt

Recreated in Omnisend's native builder, never pasted as HTML, so product blocks, tracking and A/B tests work.

Segments

Recreated

Rebuilt with Omnisend segment rules, checked against Klaviyo counts.

Campaign history and reports

Stays in Klaviyo

Exported before the account is closed, so you keep your benchmarks.

The process

Four steps, no sending gap

01

Audit and map

Every flow, template, segment and property listed and checked against your strategy. The list gets verified and cleaned.

02

Transfer and rebuild

What transfers one-to-one is copied. The rest is rebuilt to Omnisend's logic, with pixel-perfect templates. Klaviyo keeps sending meanwhile.

03

QA

Every flow, trigger, segment, form and template tested before anything goes live.

04

Switch and hypercare

Sending moves over gradually, most engaged contacts first, and results are watched until stable.

What goes wrong in DIY migrations

Three mistakes that cost revenue after a switch

Switching volume overnight

Sending your full list from a new setup on day one looks like spam to mailbox providers. Open rates drop and can take weeks to recover.

Pasting old HTML templates

Emails look the same but lose click tracking, product blocks and A/B testing. The account works visually, not functionally.

Overlapping flows

Leaving Klaviyo flows on while Omnisend flows go live means customers get two cart reminders. Every flow needs a clean cut-over.

FAQ

Migration questions

Will I lose subscribers when moving from Klaviyo to Omnisend?

No. Contacts move with their subscription status for email and SMS. Unsubscribed and suppressed contacts are imported as such, so nobody who opted out gets emailed.

Can my Klaviyo flows be imported into Omnisend automatically?

Omnisend's migration team rebuilds your live workflows, recreates a master template and sets up your first forms, for free. CLVmaxers works on top of that: every email optimized and set up properly in Omnisend, the full template set rebuilt, the list cleaned, and everything QA'd before you switch.

Will my open rates drop after migrating?

They can if sending moves over too fast. A gradual ramp starting with your most engaged contacts protects inbox placement, and that's how every CLVmaxers migration runs.

Do I need to change anything on my domain?

Yes. Omnisend needs its own domain authentication (SPF and DKIM) and your DMARC policy should be checked. We set this up before any email is sent.

Is moving to Omnisend right for every store?

No. It depends on your list size, channels and how you use Klaviyo today. The Omnisend vs Klaviyo comparison covers the trade-offs, or ask for a free check and you'll get an honest answer.
